Hack & Slash Book Birthday!

Well folks, it’s been a busy day, but we are now drawing to a close on the first day of my book Hack & Slash being available on Amazon!

I won’t know how well it has been received by the world at large for quite some time, but it has already been given three five star reviews which is absolutely fantastic news! Both because it is wonderful to know that people enjoyed it enough to write up a review for Amazon, but also because five star reviews are the lifeblood of the Amazon algorithm, especially for books! Legends (the Indie Author Reddit I’ve perused) say that it takes getting 50 five star reviews to activate the internal Amazon advertising mechanisms, aka the “other people bought this” banners that go under books with offers of similar popular books. So we’re three steps closer to that now!

I am, however, trying my best not to haunt the book’s page on Amazon like some sort of helicopter parent checking their kid’s grades.

To keep myself distracted, I have begun work on the much-put-off Regency dress that I have had the fabric for since 2021. Unfortunately, the distraction is working both ways. I made two back left bodice parts rather than a left and right, so I decided to correct that and an earlier, different mistake by just cutting out a new pair of back pieces. I am just about back to where I was when I noticed my mistake.

What do you folks do when you need to keep your mind off something?

Might it be reading a novel about a young woman trying to survive in a Fantasy RPG-like world while there are monsters on her tail?

Hmmmm??

Or reading Queer and female-led adventure stories where the characters use the environment around them to their advantage against monsters?

Hmmmmmmmmm??

What about books with characters inspired by Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie from Thor: Ragnarok?

If any of that tempts you, please do check out my new novel, Hack & Slash!
