Hello everyone, I have some exciting news about my novel, Hack And Slash!
I’ve got a publishing date! The 17th of May, yes, less than a fortnight away! It took 6 years of writing and editing and I’ve got 9 days warning of the book coming out!
This is incredible news and I am sooo excited to see this book finally go out into the world. I’ve been working on Hack And Slash since 2018, it has gone through multiple edits and huge structural changes, but it is done!
The story is a Fantasy/Sci Fi mash up, with a young Scottish woman as the main character. The world is ending, and humanity has decided to save as many people as they can by filling spaceships with cryogenically frozen people and shooting them off into space. However, there is a fault in the cryogenics tech which means that a small percentage of people will wake up, not great for a journey that might take centuries! So they decide to build a virtual world where people can hang out and live their lives. So far, so good, right? Well not so much. It turns out that in the rush to make things work, a few checks were maybe skipped, and oh dear, there are monsters going after the humans in the virtual world.
Hack and Slash is the story of Gwen finding herself in this world and trying to cope with a new reality that features swords and monsters and all sorts of terrifying things that are definitely not in her wheelhouse.
So yeah, that’s the book.
I keep doing little dances around the house. I’m so excited, terrified, and relieved. Part of me was sure this book would never see the light of day, and I am so, so grateful that in just over a week I should be able to hit that doubting corner of my psyche with an actual paper copy of my novel!
