Hello folks and welcome to the new year!
2020 is going to be an interesting year for a lot of us, I hope to have a lot more stuff to announce and look forward to this year. And to that point I cannot actually say anything more because some things may or may not be in the works. I worked really hard last year, but in a very disorganised way so I am hoping to be better on that front. I also got super stressed about writing on a fairly regular basis, and it would be nice to learn not to do that.
To celebrate the new year and to maybe help some of you finding it a bit difficult to get started on new projects, I have found some interesting writing jobs which I will be definitely looking at, though whether or not I manage to write something by the deadlines is anyone’s guess…
First up.
Plays Rough London, Scripts for 31st of January 2020
Plays Rough London are a writing collective looking for short scripts. The theme is “Factual and Fantasy” and the plays should last up to fifteen minutes. The chosen scripts will be performed at The Old Red Lion Theatre Pub on Monday the 16th of March in London. This is obviously very cool and I am extremely tempted to send something to this. I haven’t written a script in ages though, so I might need to practise a fair bit first.

Dragon Soul Press, Short Stories for 29th of February 2020
Dragon Soul Press want short stories about female rulers for their “Reign of Queens” themed anthology. Since there’s no limitation on setting or genre you can really have fun with this one, and I imagine everyone has at least one story they just thought of at the description. I have had about seven ideas so far, I’ll see which one actually ends up getting written. The requested story length is 5000 to 15000 words and Dragon Soul Press pay royalties to their writers.

Third
Cantina Publishing want short stories for the 22nd of February 2020
Cantina Publishing want short stories of between 3000 to 7000 words for the Silk & Steel: An Adventure Anthology of Queer Ladies. Interestingly this anthology idea was apparently inspired by a piece of art, which you can see on the submissions page. They are looking for stories with romantic themes in any speculative genre apart from erotica or horror. The idea behind the anthology is that in every story there will be the same two basic characters, one a sword wielding, bad ass fighter, and one woman who is just as powerful in her own right, but uses skills thought of as more feminine, or “softer” which is very cool sounding. I am really in love with this idea and I will definitely try my hand at writing something for it.
Linky thing is here.
Anyway, those are the three things that have really caught my eye lately and I thought it would be cool to pass on the news about them. Let me know if you decide to send anything in!
